Stepping up to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, KEC International Ltd., a global infrastructure EPC major and an RPG Group Company, with the support of RPG Foundation announced the launch of a well-appointed COVID-19 Quarantine Centre for the local community at the Company’s Training Centre Facility in Butibori, Nagpur. A first-of-its-kind facility in the locality, the Centre aims to help asymptomatic patients by providing them with a quarantine facility immediately after detection of the virus, so that their family members and neighbors are protected from the virus.

Equipped with 36 beds, further expandable to 60 upon requirement, the facility follows the SOPs and guidelines issued by the Government. A team of medical doctors and specialists from Rachna Hospital & Research Centre, a multi-specialty hospital for rural & industrial areas, will be managing the Centre and ensure smooth operations round the clock. The team will regularly examine and monitor the patients’ health. Trained Nursing staff will be stationed at the Centre for the well-being of patients. The facility will also stock adequate essential medical and sanitisation products such as Oximeters, Thermometers, PPE kits, Masks and Shields, Sanitiser Bottles, Liquid handwash and Bath soaps.

KEC has also made all necessary arrangements to make the patient feel at home. The facility will provide hot and fresh meals, including tea, nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner at the premise, which also features a spacious dining area for quarantining patients. The Centre has over 10 bathrooms/toilets, round the clock security including lady security guards and regular housekeeping and safety checks to ensure that patients are experiencing a comfortable and peaceful stay.

KEC has also commenced periodic distribution of face masks to the traffic police, to be given to local citizens. Recently, the Company handed over 500 face masks to Butibori police authority.

Amol Bhople, General Manager (Plant Operations), KEC International, commented,Through the Quarantine Centre, KEC plans to ease the load on medical facilities available in Butibori. The industrial locality’s residential area primarily houses workmen, who live in small houses with an average family size of four to six members. With the risk of contraction being high in smaller and confined places, even if one member gets affected, the entire family becomes vulnerable to the virus, especially the elderly and senior citizens. With this thought in mind, we decided to further strengthen the treatment options available in the area and provide a helping hand to the local community in their journey to safely recover from COVID-19.
